Santa Rosa Creek Habitat Enhancement and Bank Rehabilitation

Planning/Design
Repair and restore a large failing stream bank on Santa Rosa Creek through channel re-alignment, floodplain reestablishment, and steelhead trout habitat construction. Currently the area to be restored is a threat to steelhead
spawning habitat and a large source of sediment deposition in Santa Rosa Creek. A massive failure of the stream bank would likely include Santa Rosa Creek Road falling into Santa Rosa Creek as channel erosion over the years
has significantly encroached on the road.

Project Themes

Project Themes

The Santa Rosa Creek Habitat Enhancement and Bank Rehabilitation Project will improve habitat conditions in the Middle Reach of Santa Rosa Creek. Lack of riparian vegetation, livestock grazing, historic land use practices, and degraded habitat conditions for South-Central California Coast Steelhead have led to an area that is actively eroding and is dysfunctional in habitat conditions. The proposed project will utilize the designs developed by Stillwater Sciences to improve habitat for steelhead, exclude livestock, improve channel morphology, and reduce bank erosion.
