Lindsey Slough Conservation Planning
This Project has an Update in progress.
Project Overview
Basics
Planning/Design
The 965-acre reserve is situated at the northwest fringe of the historical Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, just west of the confluence of Lindsey Slough, Barker Slough and Calhoun Cut within the Cache Slough tidal drainage, and east of Solano Land Trust’s Jepson Prairie Preserve. Property encompasses a section of Lindsey Slough directly west across Hwy 113 from DFW’s Calhoun Cut Reserve. Resource concerns include large amounts of fishing debris and trash left on property and in Lindsey Slough; damage to fencing by anglers accessing site; potential trampling of vegetation/harm to special status species and invasive weeds and a lack of native species cover are also issues at the site.

Project Themes
Project Themes
There are over 17 special status species on the property and protecting and promoting those species through appropriate land management will be important moving forward. Land management decisions such as establishing and adhering to grazing plans, plant surveys, and native plant promotion through planting and management of noxious weeds will be critical.
This project will add to the list of activities that already occur on the property that increase watershed health. Trash in the form of fishing line, and other plastics are not conducive to a healthy environment and healthy watersheds.
