Lower Atascadero and Green Valley Creek Flow and Habitat Enhancement

Planning/Design
The project will develop a master plan for the lowest 2.7 miles of the Atascadero Creek and upper 0.8 miles of lower Green Valley Creek. Design plans are to be prepared for the three sites that have been identified as key locations for enhancing streamflow, water quality, and off-channel habitat conditions. The designs are to be evaluated along with two additional sites with existing plans to understand the inter-relationships between the sites and the cumulative effects of implementing all five projects withing the reach. The goals are to provide numerous benefits for salmonids, enhance streamflow conditions during the dry season, and rec-connecting several perennial tributaries.

Project Themes

This project will address the health of the reach of the lower Atascadero and Green Valley Creek to enhance flow and habitat, which includes monitoring of the endangered Coho salmon. This project will benefit this species by improving flow that is necessary for spawning and migration.
This project will enhance the overall flow of the Atascadero and Green Valley Creek. This enhancement will benefit the Green Valley watershed as these creeks are a part of it.
