In-Stream Flow Enhancement
The San Gregorio Creek Stream Flow Improvement Project at Blue House Farm increases water security for the agricultural operations at Blue House Farm and enhances stream flows within San Gregorio Creek for threatened and endangered Steelhead trout and Coho salmon. The project is replacing a failing 13 acre foot (AF) reservoir with an improved 30 AF reservoir. The larger capacity reservoir will enable the farmer to forego all diversions from the creek from August through October of each year.
Off stream reservoirs allow farmers to store water taken during higher flows and use that water during low flow summer months reducing the need to withdraw water when stream flows are critically low.
