This project is a part of the California Wildfire Mitigation Program - Shasta County. Its aim is to reduce the threat to life and residential properties within Wildland Urban Interface/ Intermix (WUI) areas. This project is currently being implemented in the Whitmore area and will later expand to other parts of Shasta County. It consists of site assessments aimed at identifying homes with vulnerable building elements at risk of wildfire ignition. Home hardening measures will then take place in order to reduce these risks and provide for wildfire mitigation.
