Water Quality Improvement
Point-source Pollutant Reduction/Prevention
This project's focus was on mitigating sediment pollution in waterways after the 2018 Carr Fire. This fire burned 229,650 acres, much of which was in the Sacramento River watershed. This watershed is home to threatened and endangered anadromous fish both on the state and federal levels. This watershed also provides drinking water to Redding and its surrounding areas. In order to minimize and prevent sediment runoff in Carr Fire burned areas, the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District applied post-fire erosion control treatments to hillslopes.
