The 'Mitigation Planting at the Jelly's Ferry Capstone' project is in response to CalTrans' Buckhorn Grade Improvement (BGI) Capstone Project, which involves the widening of roadway on State Route 299. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife issued a permit that required CalTrans to compensate for the 2.371 acres of land lost because of the project. The Western Shasta RCD agreed to assist in the off-site mitigation effort by installing plants within a 7.418 acre plot. This area is located in Tehama County, CA off of Jelly's Ferry Road.
