Trinity County is a rural county with a population of 13,600 dispersed in 31 unincorporated communities. All of these are designated “Communities at Risk” and are almost entirely within the Wildland Urban Interface, putting them at high risk for damage from wildfire. With this project, Trinity County Resource Conservation District is implementing strategic WUI fuels reduction, including roadside shaded fuel breaks and chipping and fuels reduction on private land. This work will protect communities and improve the safety of ingress and egress when wildfire strikes.
