Wildfire Mitigation
The Butte Prescribed Burn Association (Butte PBA) is a program of the BCRCD. A full-time coordinator helps recruit, train and mentor ordinary residents in beneficial fire techniques to create a community-based burn corps of neighbors helping neighbors (some qualified to burn on federal lands). Butte PBA also provides free burn planning, air quality permit assistance, mapping and prep work to local landowners who want to put good fire on their land.
