Babel Slough Farm and Ranch Solid Waste Clean up - Phase II

Completed
The project's objective was to remove an estimated 250-500 illegally dumped tires from the water and banks in and along the second mile of Babel Slough with critical areas of Phase I revisited during more ideal conditions (lower water levels). The Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps utilized their crew to pull out tires as well as other kinds of trash including unmarked containers of liquids, household appliances, vehicle and boat debris and carpets. A total of 1.49 tons of garbage was removed from Babel Slough. This effort has helped to improve water quality in the slough and groundwater while benefiting wildlife and agriculture activities in the area.
