Willow Creek Community Wildfire Resilience Project
This Project has an Update in progress.
Project Overview
Basics
Implementation
This project consists of a suite of treatments to be implemented throughout the rural and unincorporated communities of Willow Creek, Hawkins Bar, and Salyer in Humboldt and Trinity Counties. This is a collaborative project, with partners from local entities- including a Fire Safe Council, Prescribed Burn Association, a Volunteer Fire Department, and TCRCD- taking lead roles in community outreach and project implementation. Treatment areas were identified as priorities in the Humboldt and Trinity Counties' Community Wildfire Protection Plans. Along with implementation of fuel reduction activities, this project will build internal capacity for long-term land stewardship in these communities.

Project Themes
Project Themes
This project will help the communities of the Greater Willow Creek Area build resilience to the high risks of wildfire inherent to this region. Through reducing forest fuels in strategic shaded fuel breaks and roadside reduction treatments, assisting community members in creating defensible space around their homes, providing home hardening assessments, and building the capacity of existing community organizations, the Willow Creek CWDG will move this region beyond response to wildfire emergencies and toward a future of proactive land stewardship.
