Knob Fire 2021 Post-Fire Disaster Recovery
Project Overview
Basics
Implementation
HCRCD will work cooperatively with private forest landowners impacted by the 2021 Knob Fire to restore forestland health and function. The project will include developing plans that outline pathways for restoration, including connecting landowners to cost-share programs and biomass utilization options, and implementation of post-fire restoration activities. Up to 15 properties will receive site assessments and treatment plans; up to 5 properties will receive forest management plans or mini-management plans, and up to 60 acres of treatments will be implemented.

As part of helping small forestland owners recover from wildfire, HCRCD will assist landowners explore options to cultivate greater carbon sequestration in their forest, by stewarding healthier forests that are more resilient to climate change and future wildfires.
This project will help privately held forestlands recover from negative effects of wildfire. Forest resource conditions including soil, water, vegetation, insects and disease issues, noxious weeds and invasive species, and other components of forest health will be addressed through developing site assessments and treatment plans, Forest Management Plans, and implementation of forest treatments. HCRCD will assist landowners in getting connected to other cost-share programs and funding opportunities, and explore options for forest biomass utilization.
