Carbon Farm Plan 13 : Row Crop
Implementation
This 23-acre diversified farm has collaborated with the Humboldt County RCD to write a Carbon Farm Plan, implement two Healthy Soils Program projects, and install a windbreak and a hedgerow with a Wildlife Conservation Board Grant. This farm produces seasonal fruits and vegetables for the local community. They plan to expand their current market garden operation to support a small herd of cattle, a fruit tree orchard, and a flax seed field for fiber production.

The Carbon Farm Plan identified practices that sequester atmospheric carbon and build agroecological resilience. The Carbon Farm Plan helped the producers secure funding to implement several of these practices.
Part of the Carbon Farm Planning process was very educational for the producers.
Through grant funding, the producers are implementing a pollinator hedgerow and a windbreak, which will help create more wildlife habitat.
This project has increased the capacity of the producers to implement more conservation practices that will support their productivity and ecological resiliency.
