Direct Benefits to Disadvantaged Communities (DACs)
This farm produces seasonal fruits and vegetables for the local community. They plan to expand their operation to support a small herd of cattle, a fruit tree orchard, and a flax seed field for fiber production. Their property is bordered by two elementary schools, so they hope to collaborate to provide agricultural education to the students.
Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Carbon Farm Planning & Implementation
This 23-acre diversified farm has collaborated with the Humboldt County RCD to write a Carbon Farm Plan, implement two Healthy Soils Program projects, and install a windbreak and a hedgerow with a Wildlife Conservation Board Grant. This farm produces seasonal fruits and vegetables for the local community. They plan to expand their current market garden operation to support a small herd of cattle, a fruit tree orchard, and a flax seed field for fiber production.
