Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
Carbon Farm Planning & Implementation
The project consists of establishing a series of demonstration field plots at a valley-floor vineyard in Windsor, CA,. Thirty-six (36) field plots are set up in two vineyard blocks (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blocks) in order to collect soil health data to assess the effects of compost application and different tillage frequency (no-till, alternate-row till, and full tillage) on soil health and soil carbon content. This project will continue for a term of 5 years to evaluate mid-term changes in soil condition. Parameters being analyzed include soil organic matter (SOM), Total Carbon, Active Carbon, bulk density, wet aggregate stability, and respiration.
