The project is located within the ancestral lands of the Gabrieleno/Tongva and Chumash peoples. Tribal input has been solicited regarding these restoration efforts and the project enhances and restores ancestral lands that are accessible to the public within Leo Carrillo and Topanga State Park.
Wildlife Habitat Improvement Multi-Species Habitat Improvement
To conserve/restore critical live oak woodland habitat, our project includes 3 elements:
1.) Oak restoration at Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park to include planting and caring for 150 oak saplings over a 3-year period.
2.) Oak restoration at Nicholas Flats in Leo Carrillo State Park to include replanting 300 oak saplings and caring for remaining oaks from burned over areas over a 3-year period.
3.) Development and implementation of a citizen science program to aid in identifying, detecting, and responding to invasive beetle infestations.

Both oak plantings were developed as extensions of past restoration work completed at each site, and incorporates past successes and lessons le
