Direct Benefits to Disadvantaged Communities (DACs)
This project will indirectly benefit disadvantaged communities. While the grant stipulates that eligible candidates must own forested land, most forested landowners in the SLO region are not considered disadvantaged. The deliverables associated with this project will have a positive impact on neighboring disadvantaged communities. Specifically, the project will reduce wildfire risks and enhance watershed functionality, benefiting surrounding areas.

Forest Management Forest Health
The Upper Salinas Las Tablas RCD will plan, permit, and execute three forest health and fire resiliency projects. Each project will be carried out on private parcels, treating approximately 20 acres of forested land per landowner. Additionally, the RCD will offer targeted technical assistance to at least nine land managers to help them deepen their understanding of the unique ecosystem functions on their properties and how to improve the health of their stands.
