Post Carr Fire Trail and Cultural Site Restoration & Hazard Mitigation

Implementation
This project focuses on post-fire trail restoration and hazard mitigation as a result of the 2018 Carr Fire in Redding, CA. 63,847 acres of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) land had burned, with over a hundred miles of trails impacted. These trails are heavily used by the public, and therefore the removal of hazardous trees and vegetation became a necessity. The Western Shasta Resource Conservation District (WSRCD) is working in agreement with BLM to remove dead or fire weakened trees both for hazard mitigation and hazard fuel reduction over a 713 acre span. This project is expected to be completed in 2025.
